2012 Movie |
The Woman In Black is the Horror movie that still to this day scares me. The movie is aged 12 and I am 16 years old and I still get freaked out whenever she screams or shows up in random places. The age rating should not be a 12 as when I watched in 2012 when I was 12/13 I was so scared that I left my light on (as if that is going to stop a ghost from killing you) just so I could see if she was there waiting to kill me, I used to have nightmares over the film. Now that I am 16 I obviously don't get scared of the film and can understand it better. I believe that the film should be a 15 just for the deaths and jump-scares could scare children and give them nightmares.
The backstory of the ghost The woman in black is the reason why I don't jump to conclusions about anybody as I never know their backstory and the reason behind it. The Women In Black who is originally Jennet Humfrye had her son taken away from her by her sister and after the terrible accident in the marsh. Jennet saw them not save her son as she was so distraught at what happened she hung herself in the nursery and now whenever she is seen she kills a child wanting to make them feel like she had losing a child. As she never forgives she killed Arthur's 4 year old son even though Arthur reunited her and her son but she never forgives so carried on killing innocent children.
Throughout the film we are greeted with new information about 'The Woman in Black' and how she became this unforgiving and evil ghost such as her hatred for her sister and how she was betrayed by her. And we also learn how she kills the children. Throughout the movie we also see The Woman In Black's pain and loss of losing her child. As someone who has lost someone as well I can understand her pain and why she doesn't forgive her sibling or family for it.
The movie is a Spectacular thriller with jump-scares and it really gets you thinking as to why she is who she is and the reason behind her curse she has placed on the village. I truly recommend it if you are looking for a ghost movie and wanting to be scared and have goosebumps and your hairs on the back of your neck stand up. it is a gripping film which makes you sit at the edge of your sofa.
I am Katie over and out!
